The low speed is quite quiet; the high one whirs audibly, but no louder than most bathroom heaters. You can use the settings sequentially to heat a room then maintain its temperature; you can also keep it on its lowest setting to protect unused rooms from freezing.

The unit’s safety features include a cool-touch plastic cabinet and a safety shut-off system to guard against overheating.
